About this initiative

Frank Verhoeven and Stefan Saalmink aim to bring together biofuel stakeholders from South Africa and the Netherlands to jointly develop a viable (pilot) biofuel chain in which top-notch sustainability practices are being applied and which comply to the latest and cutting edge sustainability standards, thereby taking into account the interests of all chain stakeholders.

Our roadmap to achieve this:

• Build a network overview of relevant stakeholders (ongoing).
• Provide an overview of relevant initiatives that work towards sustanainable biofuels chains (ongoing).
• Collect relevant popular and scientific publications (ongoing).
• Select one or several sustainable biofuel chain(s) that can be potentially developed into solid (pilot) business case(s).
• Develop a business case in cooperation with chain stakeholders from South Africa and the Netherlands.
• Carry out a pilot.
